------- Additional Comments From Wolfram.R.Sieber GMail com 2005-03-29 00:18 -------
Just added some support to bug #100632, then i noticed it was about kopete, not \
konversation. :-(

Never mind, lots of it applies for konversation as well, so i post it here uncut.

As S.Burmeister, I mean it's more usual having a bookmark menu but any kind of \
command sequence. For browser users it's common to have a bookmark menu. People who \
are new to the net mainly make first contact using a web browser. To win them for \
other web media like mail or irc, they should get the support for that they need. For \
example, in mail programs address books are common, tody. In instant messengers it's \
common to have buddy lists. - It's always a tool accessible by a two-click menu \
usage.

I think, if an IRC client that insists on traditions like "Do it the command way" \
won't rescue newbies. - On the other hand, the big bonus of KDE is its usability -- \
to enable users doing what they want by making things as easy as possible.

I think a bookmark way of handling (temporarily) wanted and unwanted channels were \
more easy, since it doesn't force the user to store channels they used one time to \
get some piece of information they needed to the list of channels *always* loaded on \
start-up. On the other hand it would allow them to not to forget these sometimes \
useful channels. And it doesn't require the user to handle a media break by storing \
the irc server/channel name data elsewhere.

If a user has to use the File -> Server List thingy, he has to do lots of action: \
input network, server, channels. But the user has this data already, implicitely, \
since he's already in the channel he want's Konversation to remember. So, why \
complicating it (for the user) more as necessary? Furthermore, the channels list \
only allows channels that will be used on _every_ start up, i.e. the user has not the \
freedom to chose whether or not he wants to use that channel in a current session. -> \
Therefore it would make a perfect sense to add a bookmarks menu that will leave him \
that freedom.
