I noticed that this bug is marked as resolved, but the "Expand as required..." option \
is not working for me (reboot not required). I am using KDE 3.4 Beta 2 and Qt 3.3.3 \
compiled from Gentoo's portage using gcc 3.3.5.

Enlarging the panel length slightly makes the buttons go away, so it seems that the \
length of the buttons and applets is not being computed/maintained correctly. I tried \
various combinations of buttons and applets, but found no single cause. I also looked \
at the code, but it will take me too long to get up to speed. Sorry.

If I can be of any help, let me know.
