Yes, submount mounts devices "on demand". SuSE 9.2 installs it per default. The \
homepage of this project is http://submount.sourceforge.net.

The /etc/mtab entry for the cdrom is:
/dev/sr0 /media/cdrom subfs ro,nosuid,nodev,fs=cdfss,procuid,iocharset=utf8 0 0
