CVS-controlled files because Emacs renames them with the revision that was \
edited:

$ ls -1  kmail/*~
kmail/kmmainwidget.cpp.~1.144.~
kmail/kmmainwidget.h.~1.40.~

And I have not configured almost anything in my Emacs. My ~/.emacs is very, \
very simple. It could be a distribution-default, though.
