------- Additional Comments From jeff.mitchell wustl edu 2005-01-01 04:21 -------
I hadn't tried Kaboodle before. Running Kaboodle on a mp3 file does not work -- it \
fails with the same message as JuK. So I converted the mp3 to a wav file and then a \
flac. Both of them work, with the following output:

WAV:

akode: halt
search playobject, mimetype = audio/x-wav
creating Arts::audiofilePlayObject to play file
loading wav: /home/jeff/cc1_h.wav
  frame size: 4
  channels: 2
  bits: 16

FLAC:

akode: halt
(The previous message was repeated 1 times.)
UnixManager: got notifyIO
socketconnection created, fd = 8
search playobject, mimetype = audio/x-flac
creating akodeXiphPlayObject to play file
akode: opening /home/jeff/cc1_h.flac
akode: No media loaded
akode: No media loaded
(The previous message was repeated 3 times.)
akode: play
akode: halt
akode: No media loaded

JuK works on both these too. So it seems like the reason it's not working is because \
I need akode mp3 libraries? I've gotten all the mp3 libraries I could find, and most \
other players work...but I guess not ones that depend upon akode.

Do you know where I might be able to find either RPMs for FC3 with the libraries in \
them, where I might find a SRPM, or where I might find the source code that I can \
build to make the libraries?

Thanks for your help so far.
