I haven't tested the "add-to-project", but there is definitely something funny with \
encoding in Kdevelop's editor.

Consider this:

1. Create a file (e.g using Kate) with extended chars, save it as iso8859-1. Here is \
my sample file foo:

/*
 * Example of file with accents and other characters
 * íiÍI
 * óoÓO
 * éeÉE
 * úuÚU
 * áaÁa
 * ñÑ
 */

2. Kate opens this file correctly
  - as utf8
  - as iso8859-1

3. However, when opening this file in kdevelop:
  - opening as utf8 shows garbled characters
  - opening as iso8859-1 is OK
