No additional comments for a long time - plus the requested information from the \
original reporter was never supplied. As said above, errors were probably due to a \
buggy FreeType version, causing fc-cache to fail. Kfontins is partly to blame as it \
added all directories to fontconfigs search path - but this should be harmless, \
assuming FreeType was OK.

CVS HEAD however, no longer adds the X directories to fontconfig - and indeed gets \
its directory/font listings straight from fontconfig.

Also, as said I've never been able to reproduce this, and CVS HEAD kfontinst no \
longer adds the X stuff to fontconfig, or vice versa. Therefore, closing this bug.
