Product: kio
Version: unspecified
Platform: Debian testing
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Component: audiocd
AssignedTo: ben meyerhome net
ReportedBy: Martin Lichtvoll de
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux
Hello,
It all started as I wanted to encode a CD. It was not known in the FreeDB database. \
It encoded nicely in Ogg Vorbis but failed for MPEG 3. I found out that it would \
encode tracks from CDs with CDDB data correctly, but would fail on tracks from CDs \
without CDDB data (see my comments to Bug #83385). So when CDDB data is available I \
get nice high quality MPEG3 files.
So then I just thought I enter some CDDB data in KsCD, but this also failed, cause \
KsCD won't let me save it (see bug #89503). I did it the hard way, I copied a CDDB \
file from .cddb and changed it accordingly.
Now KsCD and kaudiocd actually showed the CDDB information I typed into that CDDB \
file. And now I could start the encoding process. But instead of creating me a \
playable MPEG3 file of about 6.1MB (that is the estimation in the audiocd:/MP3 view \
in Konqueror) it created a 1.5 MB MPEG3 file.
When I try to play this via Noatun I do not hear anything. Noatun says it is a 32kpbs \
MPEG3 file, but my settings produced much higher quality files in the past. Also \
Kaffeine told me about 32kb.
So it seems that now kaudiocd created some file but not really what I intended. I can \
provide config files on request. I just don't want to clutter the bugzilla database \
with unnecessary attachments.
If you need further info please or I should test something for you, please tell me.
