I think/thought the problem is due to the Kontact kmail plugin using 
calling openComposer in the KMailPlugin::openComposer(...) method.

The openComposer method doesn't take into account the currently 
selected folder, because the selected folder is really a property of 
a particular KMMainWidget, and KMKernel methods really should be 
independent of any particular KMMainWidget.

giaracca comment "Even the reply to a message sent to the folder 
identity uses the default identity" might indicate he/she is 
experiencing a different problem.
