As to upgrading I don't know how to do it, so if you tell me I could test.

And as to the failure. It comes with linking:
/bin/sh ./libtool --silent --mode=link --tag=CXX ccache g++ -Wnon-virtual-dtor \
                -Wno-long-long -Wundef -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 ....
...nc/libksync/synchistory.lo
g++: g++: No such file or directory

If it helps I could attach a run with strace to it.
