------- Additional Comments From nick nature cc 2004-06-28 07:16 -------
The script for bug #74404 outputs:

----
Looking for kwordpart.desktop under services dir: /root/.kde/share/services/
Looking for kwordpart.desktop under services dir: /usr/share/services/
Found: /usr/share/services/kwordpart.desktop... ok, this is a KOfficePart
Native mimetype : X-KDE-NativeMimeType=application/x-kword

Service Types dir /root/.kde/share/servicetypes/
Service Types dir /usr/share/servicetypes/
Found /usr/share/servicetypes/kofficepart.desktop
[PropertyDef::X-KDE-NativeMimeType]

Everything looks ok

----

I hope it isn't anything braindead stupid.

---

Furthermore: Loading in failsafe, then running kword from konsole still results in \
the same problem with no messages to STDOUT. The box has a very restrictive firewall \
using iptables if that could be related.
