In the KMSearch::slotProcessNextBatch() in kmail/kmfoldersearch.cpp
replace the line
  int i = 100;
with something like
  int i = 1;
and see if that helps.

I'll change the severity to wish as being a bit slow is annoying, but isn't exactly a bug.
