You can save view layouts with "View" -> "Save view layout" and set this layout as \
default view layout in the configuration dialog.

But:
I just recognized that saving of view layouts is buggy at the moment. Floating views \
have to be configured manually in the configuration dialog.

And floating widgets do not show up on startup, you have to select the view layout \
with "View" -> "View Layouts" ->

These bugs are fixed in CVS.
