I'm experiencing the same problem. Some additional information on this issue can be found in the kde-solaris archives in the thread starting at http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-solaris&m=107424855804348&w=2

FWIW, I had a report in private mail from someone telling me this effect does not occur when trying to run the same KDE binaries on Solaris 10 (beta) which would support me suspecting some OS and/or X11 bug (please see the above thread for details).
