I think the problem is caused by this directory:
	/home/dad/.kde/share/applnk/SuSE

If you rename that directory and then delete \
~/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu again, things should work better.

The problem is that due to a bug, the menu gets mightily confused by menus named \
"SuSE" or "KDE"
