time-stamp is on, show topic is on, encoding is default, use color nick-list is on, \
strip kSirc color codes is off, strip mIrc color codes is off.
I switched on 'strip kSirc/mIrc color codes', now the ~ shows up fine.
Nevertheless I still think this is a bug; nothing was colorized. Perhaps leave \
half-interpreted escape codes in instead of eating them up ?
