Summary: Smart item naming like on PalmOS
Product: kaddressbook
Version: 3.2
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: tokoe kde org
ReportedBy: pupeno kde org
Version: 3.2 (using KDE 3.2.1-0.20040219.1ark, Ark Linux - H2O)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Ark Linux 1.0 3.3.3-1ark)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.25-0.pre6.1ark
I have two types of contacts in my Address Book, persons and organizations.
They differ in one big thing, Persons has a Given Name, maybe some Additional Names and a \
Family Name; organizations doesn't, they just have the organization field with some data, no \
name entered. I've found that the PalmOS address book is the smarter in this aspect...
In KAddressBook, the main name is the person name (the one in big bold fonts on the contact) \
but in PalmOS it is the name if a name is set, if name and organization is set, it is name, but \
only if organization is set, the organization name is the main one. Can you implement this on \
KAddressBook.
The next problem is that some organizations have a mail address so I send mails with KMail, as \
there's no name selected, there's no name to show in the KMail selector and that's not nice... \
since the formatted name is for that, I would add to formatted name, a item that would be only \
the organization name, so I choose that and everything works smothly. Putting the formatted \
name back on the general contact editing dialog would be good too, since for organizations, I \
would never open the name dialog.
Thank you.
