That works for people who are familar with the virtual desktops feature. But because \
it disappears in a few seconds a new user is likely to not understand what happend. 

While having different backgrounds/background colors does not tell the user what's \
going on, it certainly tells the user "something has changed" as opposed to \
"something just happend" when using an onscreen message that disappears.
