1) Check for desktop files ~/.local/share/applications and move/remove any one that \
looks related (e.g. kivio.desktop or karbon.desktop). Then rerun kbuildsycoca and try \
again.

2) If that doesn't help, run the script from \
koffice/tools/scripts/check_koffice_install.sh after modifying the value of \
"instance" in the script, to the name of an app that won't start (e.g. kivio or \
karbon in your case). The script might detect an installation problem or a \
conflicting setting in ~/.kde/share/applnk.
