Running 3.1.4:

% kstart  --geometry 68x395-0+0 /usr/bin/gkrellm2
Works O.K.

% kstart --skiptaskbar /usr/bin/gkrellm2 -g 68x395-0+0
Ignores the -g

% kstart  --skippager /usr/bin/gkrellm2 -g 68x395-0+0
Ignores the -g

% kstart  --desktop 2 /usr/bin/gkrellm2 -g 68x395-0+0
Ignores the -g

So it looks like any option to kstart will make it ignore the -g.

Putting the gkrellm2 -g  in "" doesn't matter.
