You might want to use pinentry-gtk instead of pinentry-qt (did you upgrade
pinentry-qt lately?).
I had a similar problem, and it turned out that some version of pinentry-qt uses
some Qt mechanism (oveloaded new operator?) to keep passphrases in secure
memory, but that mechanism forces other QStrings into this (too limited) area of
secure memory as well -> out of memory.
There was some discussion on this on the gpa-dev mailing list at gnupg.org, you
may want to look into the archives.
