I believe he's saying that he would like mplayer to always play movies in
full-screen mode, just as he's able to always have a window open in it's
previously-used or configured size.

I believe mplayer exits immediately when the movie is done playing, and though
I haven't used xmmsplayer, I imagine it just spawns an mplayer process
whenever it comes across a movie file. In any case, a new window is likely
created/destroyed for every movie that is played...

Window sizes are saved by kwin, but kwin will not remember if an application
was in fullscreen-mode or restore them to such a state when they are started
again.

...in my case, I run 'for i in ./*.{avi,mpg}; do artsdsp mplayer $i; done', so
of course a new movie window is created for each file. When I'm watching a
series of shows in fullscreen mode, it's annoying to have to refullscreen the
mplayer application every time a new movie is opened.
