Version:           v2.1.9 (using KDE 3.1.9)
Compiler:          gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.19

Files that are on my desktop but have no extension are correctly recognized as being \
a tgz file by  KDesktop. When I click it to open the file I get asked what kind of \
file it is by ark, which, for some reason failes to recognize it while KDesktop \
correctly recognized it.

I suggest to use the mime types from kde instead of file-extensions.

ps. bug 45446 was closed 30-april, my compile is from later then that.
