No. However, I would welcome a plugin for the ksplash in CVS which provides the sort of 
transparency you want. Since ksplash starts before the window manager, and it bypasses it, 
backgrounds (when they appear) cannot be redrawn correctly, and hence would make this 
feature unusable.
