Why do you have 2 versions of the libs in the first place?

Please just stick with *one* version for all of KDE, which includes any 
application linking to kdelibs.

Having multiple versions installed is not a problem per se; *using* multiple 
versions in the same binary (kdelibs using old and kopete using new) is bound 
to break.
