Do you use a local CUPS server (and a remote printer) or did you configure
kdeprint to connect to a CUPS server running on another machine? Do you have
any access restrictions defined in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf (on the computer
where the CUPS server is running) that would prevent a connection to succeed?
Is the CUPS server correctly broadcasting its name, and is this network name
recognized by the computer from which you're trying to print?

Short explanation: each CUPS server references its printers using URI in the
form ipp://<servername>:<port>/printers/<printername>. KDEPrint uses the
server name and port mentionned in that URI when printing. If those infos are
wrong from the point of view of the "printing computer", this may lead to a
connection timeout (your app freezes).

Michael.
