OS/Compiler notes: Slackware 7.1 with kernel 2.4.2-ac11

When I start up knotes after killing the process, a large slim black window appears. \
A spurious note entitled [Data] is displayed in the list of knotes. Deleting \
~/.kde/share/apps/knotes/[Data] manually solves it.

This is from 2.1.1-pre available at
ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/2.1-update/
(I compiled from source over my existing 2.1 installation.)
