Hello,

Thanks for the bug report.  What is the program doing when it crashes?  Is 
this another start-up crash?

The backtrace isn't too informative, unfortunately.  Can you try running the 
program through the GNU debugger?  (Type "gdb $(which kstars)"...then type 
"run" at the gdb prompt.  After the program crashes, type "quit" to exit gdb.  
Send me everything it outputs between "run" and "quit").

I have attached a default kstarsrc file, since you mentiioned it :)
This is from an archived KDE 3.0.0 version; I'm pretty sure it will work fine 
with your KDE 3.0.2 version, since they differ only in a few bugfixes.
