Subject: Bug#45215: strange behaviour when logged into the same account from two different machines
From: jju () dif ! dk

Package: kicker
Version: KDE 3.0.6 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot
Severity: normal
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified
If I log into my normal user account on my server locally and start up a few apps and \
panel applets, then go to one of my remote workstations and log into the same account \
on the server again, I see the applets the I started on the server etc... it's all \
there. Then I start a few new applets on the remote machine and they show up just \
fine, but only on the remote display - the local panel on the server is not updated.
This behaviour is both good and bad... It's nice that someone logged into the same \
account at a remote location can't start messing with the way your panel looks, but \
it can also be a problem - sometimes you may want access to the applets locally that \
where started remotely (the "kfm" file sharing applet is a good example). Also, when \
logging out, what session/panel-setup is stored? the remote or local one?
At the very least the intended/implemented behaviour in situations like this should \
be documented, but I can't seem to find any documentation related to this - I may be \
looking in the wrong places ofcourse.

Jesper Juhl - jju@dif.dk
