I also have the same problem; I find it is not so much the kicker, as it
is the taskbar add-on of the kicker. If you remove the taskbar, the
rest will work for you; both the taskbar extension and the taskbar
applet will freeze; only with xinerama; both with 3.0 and 3.0.1, both
compiled and from rpm. HOWEVER, Kasbar will work - that is what I use.
When the kicker freezes, I still have control of the desktop and I can
start a konsole with "Alt-F2", kill the kicker after doing a "ps -aux",
then edit ".kde/share/config/kickerrc" to get rid of the taskbar, and
then start a new kicker with "kdeinit +kicker".
However, on some occasions, when I tried to change windows or desktops
from the keyboard shortcuts, I also lost the keyboard.
Also: the first program you try to start after KDE comes up will not
start; it seems to me not just konsole, but any program.
Just my two bits.
