This issue was caused by the non-KDE Qt applications being linked to 
libqt.so.3 while the KDE applications use libqt-mt.so.3.

Since Qt applications dlopen() the current style, and dlopen()ing threaded 
code from non-threaded code is evil, it would cause this mess.

This has been fixed by linking all non-KDE Qt applications in the 
distribution against qt-mt.
