Subject: Virtual desktop applet rotated
From: sam@bifrost.demon.co.uk
X-KDE-Received: -62.252.0.5

Package: kicker
Version:           KDE 3.0.5 (CVS HEAD >= 20020327)
Severity: normal
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-85)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.2.16-22
OS/Compiler notes:

Just installed CVS sources of KDE3 from last night (30th March), and the display of \
virtual desktops on the panel has changed since KDE3 beta 2 - the display is now \
rotated 90 degrees.

I have 8 desktops, and they used to be displayed 2 high and 4 wide, now they are 4 \
high and 2 wide, which though it saves horizontal space, makes the preview mode too \
squashed to be much use.

See http://www.bifrost.demon.co.uk/pub/desktops.jpg for a screenshot. I cannot find a \
configuration option to swap things back, so I'm not sure whether its a bug or a \
'feature'.

I did try it with 16 desktops, and preview becomes totally useless. Since I use the \
preview mode to tell desktops apart, for me, this is definitely a bug (unless there's \
a configuration option I've missed - there aren't any under 'Desktop', 'Panel' or \
'Taskbar' options in the control centre).
