Package: konqueror Version: 2.2.2-1 (using KDE 2.2.2 ) Severity: normal Installed from: RedHat RPMs Compiler: gcc 2.96-98 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Red Hat 7.2 A few days ago I upgraded from KDE 2.2.0 shipped with my distro (IT Linux 2002- basically Red Hat 7.2 with everything translated to Finnish and KDE as a default desktop) to 2.2.2 using RPMs dovnloaded from gd.tuwien.ac.at .Everything installed smoothly and all the little bugs in 2.2.0 were corrected. But a new bug appeared- not big,but very annoying: file browsing with Konqueror is E-X-T-R-E-M-E-L-Y slow, it takes several seconds to go up or down the filesystem tree. Also copying files from CD to hard disk or from folder to folder is very slow.Even writing this is slower than normal, I can write half a word before it appears on the screen! All that happens regardless whether I'm logged in as root or normal user. Before upgrading all worked normally. I have used Linux for an year now and like it and KDE very much, but this is strange... I haven't heard or read similar bugs before. I really hope you can help me, I've had a hard time convincing my friends that Linux is as good as or better than Windows, and now this!( By the way, all other text editors work normally) Yours Jouni Rinne Tampere, Finland (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
