I'd rather not do so - I'm not an experienced Linux user, I've just recently 
installed Linux and encountered the problem in the wake of updating from 
KDE 2.1.2 to KDE 2.2.0. Thus I can't imagine why this should be related to 
the kernel... (though I must admit I've really no knowledge about this)

Perhaps I should clarify the problem: The internet connection itself, i.e. 
the download speed, is *not* slow with KDE apps but KDE apps (only KDE apps 
and Mozilla) need significantly more time just to resolve the servers' names. 
Once the name's resolved (at least it seems so to me) the downloading of 
mail, news or a website is as fast as it was with KDE 2.1.2. However, the 
Opera webbrowser for example hasn't shown this problem.
