What happened:
after trying some kstyles my xemacs was white instead of gray. seemed bigger too, but not sure...

Actual Problem:
it is in the file
.kde2/share/config/kcmdisplayrc
if useResourceManager=true then xemacs won't work properly. Changing it to false is enough to get xemacs ok again.

Note:
Maybe some kstyles mess with that setting.
