Subject: Bug#33130: kword: Search/Replace can cause infinite loop
From: benb () acm ! org

[Download RAW message or body]
Package: kword
Version: 1.1-final (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: Debian Packages
Compiler: Not Specified
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified
Reported by a debian user; the full dialogue is at:
http://bugs.debian.org/113872
Package: kword
Version: 1:1.1.0-final-5
Severity: normal
Search and replace TEXT with Text (no use patterns, no placeholders), case sensitive \
search, whole words only, not from cursor, not find backwards, no prompt on replace. \
Assuming document contains TEXT infinite loop will start which can only be broken by \
killing application.
Terminal window repeats:
QGArray::at: Absolute index 26472 out of range
(with number continuously increasing).
This search and replace doesn't even seem like it could cause an infinite loop--it's \
a case sensitive search, so once TEXT is replaced with Text it should not be found \
again. But KWord keeps inserting TextTextText, etc..
[snip]
Another detail I neglected to mention: this bug only seems to occur when the 'Whole \
Words Only' selection is checked.
