Would be much easier if we would talk c+= +=20 nativly :) > http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/view/1150 While this post looks for me like the try to get a talk about some ideas I = may=20 like to add an own idea/question/mark to a possible upcoming discussion.=20 Please see it as a try to communicate with those devels that share my favor= =20 in scripting languages; I would like to have a common framework to embed bindings into C++/Qt/KDE=20 applications. IMHO an application should be able to use transparently all=20 support scripting languages without depending or knowing something about th= e=20 language/interpreter itself. So, let's say e.g. the app uses Smoke as=20 abstraction layer and just passes some scripting code to Smoke. Smoke itsel= f=20 then decides what scripting language is used, loads the matching interprete= r=20 and the scriptingcode got evaluated. This is somewhat similar to what the=20 oo.org UNO API does. Please also see the following link to get a more=20 detailed overview of this "wish". A while ago I seeked such a solution, but note very fast, that it isn't=20 possible jet. Therefore I started my own implementation named Kross and use= d=20 at Kexi right now ( see=20 http://www.kexi-project.org/wiki/wikiview/index.php?Scripting ). Yes, I know that it's somewhat totaly different to what kdebindings likes t= o=20 archive. But on the other hand, why? There is definitiv a needing for such = a=20 solution and IMHO Smoke is the try to have a common shared codebase. So, it= =20 looks for me, that Kross and Smoke try to archive similar tasks. Maybe some= =20 day it would be wise to try to have one solution for both tasks? Communication on this issue may something that isn't needed jet nor before= =20 KDE7 if we decide to rewrite whole KDE from scratch anyway (no, that's a=20 joke :-) Anyway. If that happens nobody isn't able to hit me for not drivin= g=20 that issue/wish up earlier. So, I am happy on any kind of note/feedback on this and wish everybody happ= y=20 coding. =2D-=20 Sebastian Sauer aka dipesh[sebsauer] http://www.dipe.org/public_key.asc =46ingerprint: 8F1E 219B 16E6 4EC7 29CC F408 E193 65E2 9134 2221 Coder of/in http://www.koffice.org/kexi && http://www.kmldonkey.org --nextPart1680005.T9ecvWNYeW Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBCq5qQ4ZNl4pE0IiERAuxmAKDJIJ8v5WrTB3Pv+00PpOWCD9186wCgsQ7F 8I8N87PhryTe9bjfCtsj5dU= =vhQP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart1680005.T9ecvWNYeW-- --===============1165883155== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ Kde-bindings mailing list Kde-bindings@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-bindings --===============1165883155==--
