they are better than the ons in SVN right now, and above all for some time

This is one part of the problem. You can't change things to the better because 
someone thinks it already has enough "style".

I tried 4 years ago to get a little color into the loginscreen and I failed. I 
am not saying that my work is the most brilliant but I am missing some 
evolution here. If someone comes up with something better thats fine.  
Everthing in KDE has changed over the last 4 years but not the login Pics 
though.
