about shadows on corners.
normaly an object standing on a table has 2 light sources
one and most important the actula light source example a lamp.
this light makes well defined shadows and most of the time, if the material of 
the object has high reflexion it makes the well known gloss efect.
then we have the second light
the reflexion of the frist light on the table projected on the object
it makes a more difused shadow and light.
this light source dosent exist if the object is standing in mid air but that 
is not a very normal beaviur in real life.
