My conclusion is regarding free software is that SodiPodi would probably be sufficient to 
make icons but till we get version 1.0 there are problems.  The current version crashed 
several times and mangled the file once.

Karbon14 is currently so slow that it isn't usable on my 400 MHz system.  However, it was 
useful to clean up the SVG files that SodiPodi made with errors in them.

I have managed the attached so far.  It is complete except for the shading on the page. 
SodiPodi didn't like the shading that someone made with Adobe Illustrator.

I also note that sine Sketch claims to import AI files that it might help if I could get 
the original AI file for: "crsc-mime-mime_empty.svgz".
