You certainly have a point here. Still, I guess the artists department can be
a bit more colorfull than the rest. KDE has an industrial flavor (gear-wheel
and all, I guess that's where the bolts came from), a meeting place for
artists does not have to be that industrial.
The more white you start with, the more colorfull color elements look. If you
have a lot of white, even grey can be "colorfull", while if you start with
orange, you can only back down. I would start with a lot of white, add a few
color elements. (If you add a playfull gear-wheel or something like that,
there is a playfull relationship with the industrial strength.)
