A bit dull? How bout giving this a try: - black on white for the content frames. - the navigation frames a black background. - a fresh text ( = mostly links) color on the navigation frames, like yellow or red. Try red for the links, they can be red in the content frames too. - the visited links can be grey, works for both frames. - or the visited links can be white on the navigation frames, then, after visiting all pages, those frames are white on black, a mirror of the content frames ( with vlinks black or grey). - the active links can be some wild color, turquiose or something.
