Hi there,

thanks to Rainer Bawidamann <widi@wohnheim.uni-ulm.de> there a now libc5
binaries available for the stable Debian 1.3.1 ("bo").

Please have a look at

ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/latest/contrib/distribution/dep/bo

Here follows the README
"KDE 1.0 for Debian 1.3.1

This are Debian packages for Debian 1.3.1 ("bo"), the current "stable"
version of Debian (as of Jul, 16).

As the official Debian KDE packages are compiled for hamm, the upcoming
Debian 2.0, which uses glibc2 aka libc6, you cannot use them with Debian
1.3.1 (which uses libc5).

The changes to the KDE sources are very small, only kdebase needed some
tweaking. I might make patches to the official sources.

These debs are NOT official Debian packages, I compiled them for my own
use.
If you have any problems concerning the installations of these packages
please contact me and not the KDE developers.

Rainer Bawidamann <widi@wohnheim.uni-ulm.de>"

Please be aware that the new glibc based Debian 2.0 is already pretty
mature and does carry KDE-1.0 in the contrib section.

The binaries for the glibc based Debian 2.0 are also available from

ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/latest/distribution/deb/hamm/binary-i386

Yours,
-- martin
P.S.: All these new packages should soon pop up on our Caldera
sponsered U.S. site ftp://ftp.us.kde.org

Anybody who's comfortable using KDE should use it. Anyone who wants to
tell other people what they should be using can go to work for Microsoft.
