The "KDE Disk archiver" (KDar) is a disk-based archiving and backup=20 utility. =20 KDar is built around the "disk archive library" by Denis Corbin, and is=20 analogous to the tape archiver shell command "tar", but is more suited for= =20 backups onto disk-based media, such as CD-R, DVD, Jazz, Zip, other=20 hard-drives, etc.=20 =20 KDar can perform full and differential backups with or without=20 compression. Archives can be split to fit various media types. =20 A filtering mechanism allows you to select which files and directories to= =20 backup or restore, and which files to compress. =20 New features added to KDar-1.2.0 include: =20 - New configuration dialogs - creation and restore "profiles" for saving different configurations - message window can be printed and cleared - fonts are configurable - progress bar and current slice and size displayed during creation - "Open Recent" archives - ability to cancel current archive operation - string substitution in archive name (useful for automatic backups using new commandline option) - Faster and more reliable listing algorithm for the browser - Splash screen on startup - Handbook brought up-to-date =20 See http://kdar.sourceforge.net for screenshots, online documentation,=20 sourcecode download, and more info. KDar-1.2.0 sourcecode is available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdar Enjoy, JB =2D-=20 Johnathan K.
