I agree, we definetely need descriptions...
I now finally found some time to make an SVG template

(though you'll need Inkscape to view the SVG, browsers display only the
visible page; Karbon should also work but with some glitches).
Creating diagrams with this basic set in place should be much easier now; two
examples are below:

Please note that some fine tuning is still needed (e.g. colors, spacings,
icons. etc.), I'm doing this while still learning Inkscape (if I have to learn
it then I better go and make something useful;-)
