You said that you can easily generate a monochrome version of the FLat 
icons using a script. Could you upload a black-and-white version to 
kde-look.org and post the link to kde-accessibility@kde.org and 
kde-artists@kde.org for review?

I would like to also forward this to some partially sighted people to get 
feedback from them.
