..but, I already did that :)  I've since found that a jpeg will load when
I am viewing it locally, but if I click on a jpeg on say my yahoo file
sharing groups etc (something remote) it will ask what I want to load it
in.  I can't see it being a bug as PNG works, maybe it is <shrug>
