"startx" calls "xinit" which is in the directory "/usr/X11R6/bin" on Red
Had type systems.  This file should be 755, and this directory needs to
be on your PATH.  You have a different path for root and user accounts
(as started by "login"), but normally this element of the path is added
(or should be added) in "profile" but it could be in ~/.profile or
~/.bash_profile.
