I really don't know. I simply removed the base, libs, and support
package and installed the new ones. Then upgraded the applications. I
had a few problems configuring kdm, but I had previously changed this
from the standard RH configuration. But, I understand that you have (or
had) kdm working OK.
You should have the "qt1x-1.45" package installed and RH had an upgrade
(2.1.94-3) for "glibc" to cure bugs in the original release. You didn't
say if you used qt-2.2.2 or not but you need to since without it, things
will crash when it tries to use a "*.png" file.
I have no other ideas except that it sounds like a missing or corrupted
library problem.
