  See my post. This isn't RPM's fault, but the company's faults. However, much of
it is a myth, many packages made for one will work on another. You just have to
force a --nodep on those packages.

   RedHat owns it, but as you know it is open source, so it's no different than
the KDE developers owning KDE. IF RedHat got crazy and messed up RPM, people would
have no reason they couldn't separate development from the main RPM code base.
